Bird Dog Challenge
On April 20th Rick Vilello (PA Department of Community and Economic Development’s Deputy Secretary for Community Development) is holding a roundtable discussion specifically for local government officials. The meeting will be at 6pm at the Youngsville Borough Municipal building. Rick’s role with the Governor’s Center and DCED allows him to work with Warren County elected officials and take a hands-on approach to solving problems.
Registration is now open for May 7th Bird Dog Challenge for PA hunters and bird dog owners. The bird dog challenge will be held at the Rolfe Beagle Club in Johnsonburg, Pa., at 1016 Long Level Road. Registration will be limited to 16 bird dogs only so the quality of the event can be kept at a high level for all of the dogs and their owners. Flight quail will be released in managed warm-season grass fields and early successional brush, and then each dog will be given the chance to point or flush three quail apiece and receive a score. Scores will be based on whether or not the dog is a flusher or a pointer. Dogs will be judged on retrieve if the quail is harvested. Registration for one dog is $40; registration for the second dog from the same owner is only $20. No owner may enter more than two dogs. Entries must be received by May 3rd.
The Warren County Visitors Bureau staff would like to wish you a happy easter!
