Relax and explore the wildlife and plants of Chapman along the Nature Trail while learning the seven essentials of Leave No Trace hiking. Remember to bring plenty of water and insect repellent. 21st: Bats Eat Bugs, Blossoms and Blood - 3:00pm to 4:00pm - Chapman State Park - Meet the park naturalist at pavilion 4. Find out how bats find their food and where they make their homes. 21st: Batty for Movie Night - 8:30pm to 10:00pm - Chapman State Park - Meet the park naturalist at pavilion 4. Bring the whole family to discover surprising bat facts, what bats live in Pennsylvania and how bats benefit us all. Take a short walk and look for bats as they emerge to hunt insects, then stay to watch the movie, "The Secret World of Bats." The movie will be shown at the amphitheater at 9:00pm; bring your own soft drinks, snacks and blankets. In case of rain, it will be moved to pavilion 4. For more information contact 814-723-0250

22nd: Family Fishing Program - Located at Chapman State Park, Pavilion 1 from 1-4pm. Families should be pre-registered and arrive promptly at 1. The program will include basics on being a S.M.A.R.T. angler as well as how to rig a fishing rod, types of bait, knot tying, rules and regulations, casting, hands-on fishing and more. Participants are not required to have their fishing license while participating in the program. All equipment and handout materials will be supplied. All programs are FREE and open to the public. We will make a bug box and search for bugs that live in a meadow, forest and stream. This program is for children ages 4-10; children under 4 may attend with an adult. 28th: Canoe Tour on Chapman Lake - 7:00pm to 8:30pm - Chapman State Park - Meet the naturalist at the boat rental building beside the beach. Relax and explore the plant and animal life of Chapman Lake by water. Canoes are available on loan from the park or you can bring your own canoe or kayak. Please pre-register by calling the park office at 814-723-0250 by June 27th, as there is limited space for this program. No rental boats will be available. The boat rental concession will be closed for the 2008 summer season. If you bring a boat, park in parking lot 4. This is a program for ages 8 and up. For more information contact 814-723-0250
