                 Events: July 2016 3rd: Betts is hosting a series of event in celebration of July 4th! Family activities and the Cutest Baby Contest will be from 1-11pm. Starting at 4pm and lasting until 10pm music will be provided by live bands. End the night with fireworks which will begin at 10pm. Vendors will be available along with Budweiser Clydesdales and Birds of Prey. 3rd: Chapman State Park is having a non-denominational chapel service at 10am. 4th: Fish for free all day at Chapman State Park! No license needed! 4th: Family fishing at Chapman State Park. No license needed! Poles and bait will be provided 4th: The Warren County Pre Parade Show will begin at 9:30am at Drum & Bugle Corps Exhibition. Starting at 11am will be the parade event which is sponsored by the United Refining Company. There will be a grand prize drawing following the parade. 4th: Chapman State Park will be having a Salamander Safari in parking lot 1 from 2-3pm. Learn all about salamanders such as where they live, what they eat, and where to find them. 5th: Writer’s & Poets Open Read Night at Authors Books & Music, 227 Liberty Street in Warren. 6-8 pm (This event will be repeated the first Tuesday of every month until October) 5th: Paint your own 54x8 inch silk scarf with PA Wilds artist Julie Mader at 1pm at the Warren Library. Teens must pay a $10.00 fee at the time they pre- register and the fee will be refunded in attendance. The cost for this class is $20. Materials ill be included. 7th-August 26th: View photographs that celebrate waterways, barns, and nature at Wetmore Gallery in the Warren Public Library! On July 12th from 5:30-7:30pm you have the opportunity to meet the artists and speak with local conservation experts to learn how to conserve places like these. 8th: Chapman State Park is having a “Lil’ Buds: Summer Nature Series from 4-5pm at the Beach Building. This program is for ages 2-6 and involves hands on exploration, a nature   story, and a craft. There is no fee. 8th: Chapman State Park is holding “Night Sky Exploration” Where you get to meet learn all about the night sky and use the parks telescope! This event is from 8-10pm. 8th-10th: Warren Adventures Events Series 2016- IBO Triple Crown National Archery Tournament, Chapman Dam. You get to join the park specialist in looking for bugs and critters in the stream. Nets will be provided. Later from 2-3pm “Gone Batty” will be held at the Amphitheater as you learn about bats and how they benefit our environment. Near the end you get to check a bat box and finish with bat-on-a-stick. 9th: Youngsville’s Island Park Music Series lineup: Elektra Kings- Surf Rock 11th-15th: 2016 VBS Summer Games will be from 6-8pm. This event will be hosted by the Sheffield United Methodist Church. This is free and open to all ages K-6th. 13th: Allegheny Outfitters “Women on the Water!” event. Find a complete schedule of events on AO’s website. 14th-16th: Yaba Days in Youngsville (town wide garage sale)  15th: Oil Creek & Titusville Railroad WWII Veterans Ceremony 16th: “Introduction to map and compass” by survival instructors from True North. 1:00-4:00 pm, Environmental Learning Center, Chapman State Park, Clarendon, PA. 16th: The Perry Street Station will be transformed into a WWII encampment for both US and German Forces. Arrive at noon, as the train will be leaving at 1pm. There will be uniforms, weapons and vehicles from the era. German forces will be on board to make sure everyone has their papers. Allied forces will try to take over the train and a battle will occur at Rynd Farm. The event will be a clean-up of the 13-mile Hickory Creek Wilderness. The group will be leaving from the Hickory Creek Wilderness trailhead on Hearts Content Road Saturday morning, spending Saturday night in the wilderness, and hiking out on Sunday.  No power tools allowed in the wilderness area. There is no charge but participants must bring own food, water and camping supplies.
